Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice explains what Champaign County Busted Mugshots may receive when someone uses the pages, search tools, or contact routes, how that information is used, and when it may be shared. Using the service means accepting the practices described below. Government offices and outside tools linked from these pages have their own policies.

Information Sent Directly

Search terms

A name, location, or other text entered into a search box is sent to the third-party provider that operates that tool. Champaign County Busted Mugshots does not store or keep a log of those search terms on its own systems.

Messages and requests

If someone sends an e-mail or contact message, the message and the contact details supplied with it may be retained so a reply can be made. Those messages are not shared outside the operating organization unless disclosure is required by law or a valid legal process.

Technical Data Collected Automatically

When a page loads, ordinary technical information may be recorded by the site, hosting provider, analytics tools, or security services. This may include:

  • IP address
  • Browser type and version
  • Device type and operating system
  • Pages visited and time spent on each page
  • Referring site, when one is supplied
  • Dates and times of page requests

Cookies and similar tools

Cookies may help measure how visitors use the pages and support basic features. Browser settings can block or delete cookies. Some functions may behave differently when cookies are disabled.

How Information Is Used

Collected information may be used to:

  • Keep the pages available and responsive
  • Route a search request to the appropriate partner service
  • Understand which pages are useful
  • Find, prevent, and repair technical problems
  • Display advertising that may be relevant to a visitor

The operator does not sell personal data as a standalone product.

Links to Other Services

These pages link to Sheriff and police sites, jail rosters, booking reports, court portals, state and federal locators, legal resources, news outlets, and outside search tools. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination's privacy notice and data practices apply. The operator does not control how another service stores information or responds to a request.

Some advertising partners may use their own technology to measure activity across different sites or show interest-based ads. That tracking takes place on the partner's systems under its own terms.

Who May Receive Information

Information may be accessible to the following categories of recipient when needed for the purposes above:

  • Search partners that process search queries
  • Analytics and measurement providers
  • Advertising networks and service vendors
  • Law-enforcement or government bodies when required by a valid legal order or other lawful demand

Sharing for these purposes does not make an outside service part of the county government or a record custodian.

Security Practices

Reasonable technical and organizational safeguards are used for information handled by the operator. No internet-connected system is completely secure, so the operator cannot promise that data will never be accessed, lost, altered, or exposed.

Visitors Under 18

The service is intended for adults. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor has sent personal information, a parent or guardian may use the Contact Us route to ask that it be deleted.

Your Privacy Choices

Subject to applicable law and reasonable verification, a person may ask to:

  • Receive a copy of personal information held about them
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of information
  • Opt out of certain processing or communications

Requests can be sent through Contact Us. A request may not affect information held by a linked government office or outside provider.

Changes to This Notice

This Privacy Notice may be revised as the service, vendors, or legal requirements change. A revised version takes effect when it is posted, and the page may show a new effective date. Continued use after a change means the updated practices apply.
